I’ve just released the first public beta of vBulletin Tweet Poster!
The purpose of this modification is to allow the moderators (or users whose have the right permissions) to ban or give infractions, as easy and fast as possible.
So I’ve created a pop-up menu that appears when you click the infraction button.
I start with quoting from a vBulletin fellow customer:
We do have Social Network functionality now, which as a result creates activity from the members in our vB network. Unfortunately, this activity often is not noticed by the very same members in that vB powered network.
Isn’t that THE goal of a social network? Connecting people together.
When this is your goal, then you should provide the functionality to make it happen. To enforce and stimulate this social activity. vBulletin in it’s current state provides the fundaments for social networking, but it clearly misses important tools upon those fundaments to reach our goal of creating a mature/professional social networking environment for our end users, if that’s your goal.
A welcome-block / dropdown in the upperrichtcorner with just some notifications (like it exists now) isn’t good enough to reach what we want. With all the activities generated by the Social Networking stuff in vB 3.7 (and let’s count the Blog product to that as well) , be it only your friends (and their profiles, their albums, their birthdays and so on), be it the social groups you are a members of, be it forums your are interested in, be it new Blogs that have seen the light… the list goes on and on… we really need a PAGE full of information that informs us of the activities on the Social Network platform we are a part of.
Too much activity is left in the dark now…
This script shows Social Feeds for the following friend activities:
This hack had been requested by TNCclubman.
This is an integration with Dusty Davidson’s PhotoNotes (Thanks to him!). I have done many modifications to that script to make it possible to work as requested. of course it works on 3.8.x, (Also on 3.7.x with an extra one template edit).
Here’s a demonstration video by me, on Youtube:
This Custom Reputation System hack runs on torrentinvite.com. People basically use the forum for giving away invites to private torrent trackers, but the default rep system in vbulletin just doesnt work well for this. So the solution is when they go to click on the rep button, a new page comes up and has listed all of the trackers and other things that people give out on the forum. The person giving rep would then check the box next to what they received. And each item would be worth a different amount of points. the reputation score will be calculated as a sum for the received items. (continue reading…)
hams-a.com/vb/ (Arab whispering) encoding has been converted from windows-1265 to UTF-8 🙂
I’ve just released a working version of my “Change Threads’ Prefix Inline” hack for 3.8.x series.
I’ve optimized the code a little bit, and added a small feature that sorts & separates prefixes by their categories.
I’ve established a new queue for projects I have in hand, to regulate time, priorities and such. Adding more transparency to my job, and enabling my clients (current & potential) to know what I’m working on, now and later.
Hope my clients will like this.
